Invisalign® clear aligners are a series of custom-made, clear plastic removable aligner trays that are worn over your teeth and work to gradually move your teeth over time into the correct position that your dentist has outlined for you. The aligner trays are only removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. Since Invisalign® aligners are clear, no one will know you are even receiving treatment, unless you tell them. They are a great alternative to traditional metal braces which require brackets and wires and are not always as aesthetically pleasing.
You will visit us approximately every 4-6 weeks in order to check your progress and obtain a new set of aligners. Treatment varies by patient, and your dentist will decide what is best for you, based on your unique situation and goals. Typically, however, treatment time is between 9-15 months. Aligners are worn for about two weeks at a time, before they are changed out to the next set of aligners in the series. It is important to remember that your actions can influence how quickly treatment works. In order to obtain the best results, Invisalign® aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours per day during your entire treatment, allowing up to 2 hours per day to remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
